My Life As An Aaron Haber

I was born and raised on an island, a very Long Island in the state of New York. During that time I took this picture with my sister, Jillian. We are now, both, significantly bigger.

Fast-forward 17 years, and I decided to pack up the car (I had a 20 foot long, 2 door, 1978 Ford LTD, with a working 8 track player) and study the art of theater at The University Of Albany.

Fast forward three and a half years (I graduated early, I smart) and I once again packed the car (this time a very large moving truck, the 1978 Ford LTD was no more) and moved to the Second City: Chicago.

There I lived and played and loved and lost, but mostly trained and performed in the art of improv comedy. I left Chicago having performed in over 1500 improv comedy shows and having trained many Chicago improvisers myself.

Seven years in Chicago was enough for me (I love NY, I never gave up my NY state driver’s license, I actually drove back to NY to get it renewed.) and I packed up another truck and moved to Manhattan (actually I spent one night in the Bronx and then they asked me to leave. I guess I was too street for them.)

Now I live in Manhattan in New York City, the greatest city in the world, performing Stand Up comedy, directing theatrical productions Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway, hanging out at the world famous New York Friars club (I was inducted in 2004) and trying to make my way in the world today (it takes everything you’ve got.)

What does the future hold for me, Aaron Haber? Hard to say, but I’m working my ass off trying to break into show biz and all just to afford a new ass...how ironic!

To be continued…
